Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then located numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.
A senior official said the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be solved quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
